Heart to Heart with Doba ❤️
Doba had a hard time losing weight after the birth of her second son. High-impact workouts gave her results, but kept leaving her injured and starting back at square one. Once she discovered Heartcore, she was able to lose 20+ pounds and keep it off. She's now stronger and more confident than ever.
Tell us about yourself!
I am 48 years old, a mother of 2 boys and a Bay Area Native. I have been on a weight loss and fitness rollercoaster my entire adult life.
What made you decide to make a change in your life?
I gained a lot of weight after my second son was born and really had a hard time losing it. I had some success with other workouts but due to injuries it was always short term and I gained it all back every time. I dislocated my right elbow, blew out my left knee, which turned out to be a strained hamstring, and have had multiple other injuries and set-backs from doing other high impact workouts.
It was really by chance that I happened upon Heartcore. A co-worker learned about it from a friend and asked me if I wanted to join her to give it a try. After that first workout, something just told me, that it was exactly what I needed. It felt great! That intro class is really what motivated me to start working out again. My co-worker is now my workout buddy and we go to classes together during our lunch hour. It is my favorite time of the day!
What's the most surprising thing you've learned about yourself?
I am surprised at how strong I am. I had a hard time supporting my body weight when I started, but now that I’ve lost over 20 pounds and become stronger, I can do so much more.* And the definition I am starting to see in my abs and thighs is something I thought I would never have, but I do!
What shifts did you see in yourself since you starting working out at Heartcore?
I have lost some excess weight and gained a tremendous amount of strength and confidence. Most important, I have been able to hold onto the desire to continue to improve as a result of working out at Heartcore. The mind-body connection that develops as a result of this workout is something I have not found with anything else I have done and is a huge contributor to my success.
Did nutrition contribute to your success?
Yes! I now eat a very clean, balanced diet. Real, whole foods, high in nutrition and nothing processed or full of refined sugars. I can feel the difference in my work out if I don’t eat well.
What advice would you give someone who needs encouragement to get healthier?
Our minds are so powerful. We are guided by our thoughts so it is important to acknowledge them. Positive thoughts = positive behaviors which leads to positive results. If you are looking for a great workout along with a ton of encouragement and support, give Heartcore a try. I’m so glad I did!
