Heart to Heart with Samantha
Join us in welcoming Samantha back to Heartcore! She first started taking classes at Heartcore 2 years ago with her BFF Jessica, and eventually, they both took the plunge to become instructors! After a couple months teaching for us, Samantha and her husband moved to LA; and she continued to teach in LA at Coreology and subbed at Heartcore whenever she was in the Bay. We are thrilled she's back! Learn a little more about your newest Tu/Th 6 AM instructor...
Tell us about yourself.
I've been in the Bay Area for almost 10 years now, just returning this month after a year in Southern California. Other than fitness, I like organizing things, cleaning, watching legal television shows, cooking for my vegetarian husband, and eating cheeseburgers (the meat kind....). I'm a full-time recruiter for an education technology company based in San Mateo. Also I think I'm pretty funny.
Tell us about your fitness journey and how Heartcore fits in it.
When I was a kid, my sisters and I were pretty active. My dad has been a marathon runner for a long time, and my mom was a competitive gymnast, so they always encouraged us to do sports. It took me a long time to find a specific type of exercise that I liked... I did gymnastics, basketball, soccer, swimming, and cheerleading as a kid, but nothing really stuck. When I got to college I really struggled to stick to a form of exercise. I like to stay busy, and it's hard to carve out a long period of time daily or frequently with so much other stuff going on all the time. On top of that, I get bored and distracted pretty easily.
Anyway, I was hooked pretty much as soon as I tried Lagree Fitness at Heartcore, because it's such an efficient workout. I started working out three times a week, and I loved the transformation in such a short period of time. I've toned muscles I didn't even know I had after just a few months, and I've actually been able to sustain the improvement to my body over time. My prime workout time is in the morning; it gives me so much energy for the rest of the day after just fitting in that 40-minute workout.
What excites you most about teaching/what can Heartbreakers expect from your class?
What I love most about Lagree is that it's such a straightforward method. You find that burn in your muscles and hold onto it, and the more you sustain that burn and perfect your form, the faster you see results. I am a perfectionist about form, and I love to help clients understand how to self-correct and push themselves to understand exactly how to get muscles burning to see the most change. It's not always about adding more weight or resistance to your workout; first you really have to really get the form and method down, and that's what I really like to emphasize in my classes. That's where you see the change.
Tell us a fun fact!
My voice is naturally super quiet. If I'm talking to a group of more than like 3 people, I pretty much need a microphone.
